With the events of 9/11, American national security was challenged, and its foreign policy left the crisis of meaning. Considering the Middle East as the focus of asymmetric terrorist threats, the United States turned its attention to the region and declared that it was ready to partake of the roots of terrorism even with the use of unilateralism. In fact, Americans intend to consolidate their hegemony [especially in the Middle East]. The key question is what was the role and importance of geopolitics in the design of the US national security strategy in the administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama? In short, adopting a strategy of clearing the territories of terrorism from terrorist groups and making radical changes to the political, economic, military, and cultural structures of these lands in the interests of American values and national security reinforces its role and importance. Geopolitics has been to varying degrees in the design of the US national security geopolitical strategy under the administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
